SWIMWEAR STYLE

A common habit and A common mistake

Going down the path of finding, trying on and buying a swimsuit is stressful for a large percentage of women regardless of age, nationality, body type or size.

Why Stressful?

I know you are probably going to say Oh Tracey, I know why, “My body’s not right, or it’s not this or it’s not that” The little voice of the mind is saying it’s not what it should be. “Shoulds” build up stress pretty quickly.

Common habits.

In the process of selecting a swimsuit.

Off we go in search of the most beautiful looking swimsuit, or the latest trend, and this is a lot of fun in this stage. We browse through fashion magazines or search Google for inspiration, learn about the popular designers / brands, then put pictures in our minds of that’s the look I want.

Seeking to look our attractive best, we focus on the swimsuit and the style full stop. Believing that is the key that will make us look attractive. If it’s beautiful, stylish enough it will make me look great.

This is where a common mistake begins.

Common mistake.

We create an expectation of how we will look in the swimsuit. Or we get attached to an outcome of a ‘look’ we see in the media.

What happens next?

We find this gorgeous looking swimsuit, try it on and it doesn’t meet our expectation of the picture we hold in our mind. We shrink, It just doesn’t look any good on me, I’m not right.

Disappointment follows, our mood drops. Have you been there done that?

The one factor that matters more than you think. That gets overlooked in the selection and decision process.

Holding a focus of balancing your visual proportions, during your selection and decision process. It doesn’t mean you let go of your image aspirations, just come at them from a different angle.

The different angle first step.

Start with yourself, get to know your body’s proportions, as the first step, before looking around.

Secondly, when trying swimwear on, look in the mirror and observe the change to your visual proportions.  Are they balanced or is one area prominent?

Try on different garment shapes and observe the number of different proportionate shapes you can create when you unite – you and the garment.

Which ones are appealing to you and why?

A visually balanced body, regardless of it’s size, height, base shape, weight, always looks more beautiful than an unbalanced one

Stop highs and lows and choose Creativity Adventure and Fun

If you want to stop the highs and lows of selecting swimwear, and turn your creative process into an adventure and fun experience, so that you feel excited about how you look, that you want to go out with yourself, and show the world who you are!, begin with this step. You’ll be amazed what will open up for you.

Your turn,

What process do you use?

Do you focus on balancing your proportions? How are you doing it, and what results are you seeing.
